PAN card, e-PAN or Permanent Account Number is a unique 10-digit alphanumeric code issued to each and every entity carrying out financial transactions in India. Be it an individual or an organisation, PAN is mandatory for all tax-paying entities.
One can apply for a PAN through NSDL website or UTIITSL portal for PAN. PAN hardcopy is can be received on the address mentioned in the Form 49A within 45 days of application. One can, however, download the ePAN online and use it as a valid document everywhere.
PAN card, e-PAN The Income Tax Department has introduced a new facility for taxpayers. You no longer need to fill up a two-page application form, nor do you need to wait for a few days to get a new. If you have an Aadhaar card, you will be provided online e-PAN card immediately without any delay. Also, it is available free of cost.
The Aadhaar card based issuance facility was formally launched on Thursday. However, a trial version of its beta version has been running since February on the Income Tax Department’s e-filing website.
According to news agency PTI, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in a statement that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday formally started the immediate allotment of leaves.
The trial of its beta version has been going on since February 12 and since then 6,77,680 instant pages have been allotted till May 25. Allocating PAN card takes 10 minutes.
According to PTI, 50.52 crore have been issued to taxpayers by May 25, 2020. Out of this, 49.39 crore pages have been allotted at individual level and more than 32.17 crore pages are linked to Aadhaar card. Let me tell you that the last date to link page-support is June 30, 2020.
What is ePAN?
ePAN is a virtual PAN card that contains the card holder’s PAN details. It can be downloaded either from the NSDL portal or the UTIITSL portal. It contains the card holder’s PAN and can be used for all e-verification that require to be furnished.
In the instant e-PAN card application form, you just need to enter your Aadhaar card number. Following this, an OTP will be sent to your linked mobile phone number for e-KYC process. After this, you will be issued a Permanent Account Number (PAN) in PDF format within 10 minutes.
An e-PAN card is much better than a physical copy, but if you wish, you can get it laminated by getting a print for just Rs 50.

Here’s how to apply for an online instant e-PAN card
Step 1: First of all go to the e-filing portal of Income Tax Department
Step 2: Click on “Instant PAN through Aadhaar” in the “Quick Links” section on the left.
Step 3: Now click on “Get New PAN” on the new page.
Step 4: Enter your Aadhaar number and captcha code for allotment of new pen card.
Step 5: An OTP will be generated on your linked mobile phone number.
Step 6: Enter the OTP and validate the Aadhaar information.
Step 7: You will also have the option to validate your e-mail ID for the PAN card application.
Step 8: e-KYC data of your Aadhaar number will be exchanged with UIDAI, after which you will be issued an instant e-pen.
Step 9: Download your e-PAN in PDF format by submitting the Aadhaar number at “Check Status / Download PAN”.
This entire process will not take more than 10 minutes.
If your email ID is registered with the Aadhaar database, then e-PAN will be sent to you on your email.

Q. Is there any PAN card download app?
A. No, there is no download app. One has to either visit NSDL website or UTI Infrastructure Technology And Services Limited website to download ePAN.
Q. What is the fee charged for downloading ePAN card?
A. An applicant can download the for free for the first month of issuance of the new/modified PAN card. After that, UTIITSL applicants will have to pay a fee of Rs. 8.26 for each ePAN card download.
Q. Is ePAN a valid document?
A. ePAN is equally valid as a regular PAN card. Both are the same documents and are just issued through different media.
